The cabinets are maple which I really like. The granite counter top is called Verde Jade and is a beautiful shade of green with some black, silver, and red. I took it upon myself to design the backsplash. The main goal was to have a nice pattern which completely avoided the (many) switch plates we have. The hardware for the doors and drawers are a satin nickel, from Home Depot.
Every contractor we worked with, did a great job, so I highly recommend all of them. If you live in Minnesota, make sure to check out these contractors:
- Custom cabinetry: Freeman's Custom Cabinets
- Granite counter top: Universal Stone Inc
- Wood flooring and tiled backsplash: B & R Hardwood and Tile
Wow, it looks amazing!! Definitely worth it :)
ReplyDeleteWow, what a difference! No wonder you are so pleased, you did a great job! Do you plan to keep the counters empty like that?
ReplyDeletecongrats!
Oh my gosh, Hanaa! How absolutely beautiful!! Looking at your before and after pics I just have to smile, remembering how much I loved having a new kitchen (and this was a few years ago). I'll bet you feel like you want to spend 24 hours a day in your kitchen now, right?? It looks like they did very fine work. I especially love the last "after" pic, with the granite topped rounded cabinet--very, very nice. You must be so amazlingly glad it's over and relieved that it was such a success. The tile, too, is a huge improvement and a lovely design.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for you, Hanaa!
:) Jane
congratulations on your new kitchen Hanaa! it's beautiful:)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your kind comments.
ReplyDelete@Tracey: I agree. Very much worth the wait.
@Anat: I wish! For the purpose of showing the kitchen, I hadn't put back the kitchen electrics (toaster oven, both kitchen aid mixers, food processor, etc). Now they're all back but this time I find I still have lots of space left. The counter on the last "after" picture will remain as uncluttered as possible. I'll try anyway.
@Jane: you're absolutely right. I love spending time in it. Especially breaking in the new oven :o)
@Saira: thank you!
Congratulations! It's really beautiful, and a real improvement. I re-did mine three years ago even more extensively (tore out a wall, gutted the entire kitchen/laundry, and restructured it all) and I still walk in and think about how glad I am that I did it. May you do the same, years from now!
ReplyDelete@NancyB: thank you! That's nice of you to say. Wow, you went all the way. I'm glad you still like it today. Sounds like it was worth it!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new gorgeous kitchen. I love the before and after photos - such a dramatic transformation.
ReplyDeleteIt will be very difficult to keep out of such a fantastic kitchen!
Great job.
It looks great! I especially like the backsplash.
ReplyDeleteOh, lucky you! Your new kitchen is beautiful! What fun you're going to have in it!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely amazing job Hanâa! Love the way the cabinets now go all the way up to the ceiling, extra space and less cleaning.
ReplyDelete(It looks like american kitchens are mostly wood...so I don't think you'll like my new kitchen, it's going to be all white with some light wood accents) Have to wait 3 months..
May you bake many a tasty cake in it...
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen turned out amazing. I know how hard it is to go through a kitchen remodel. I did it about 4 years ago. Have fun in your beautiful new space.
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much! Cooking and baking were always enjoyable but now it's even more enjoyable :o)
ReplyDelete@BakingSoda: I love having the cabinets go up to the ceiling for the reasons you mentioned. As for your new kitchen, I'm sure I'll like it. Growing up, my mom's Dutch kitchen was white, with a tiled backsplash, and a stainless steel counter top :o)
oh my goodnesss! What an amazing difference! Look at all the cabinetry and counter space! Oh you lucky gal!!!

Hanaa, Oh WoW! Just beautiful! I love your back splash design and the wood adds warmth and softness. Great before and after pictures too.
ReplyDeleteHubby and I drove down the Oregon coast this weekend (Lincoln City, OR) and stayed at a bed and breakfast to celebrate our anniversary. Now that we are home, I get to focus on 'my' stove this coming Friday and after all your great imput, I just can not wait. Cooking in your knock-out kitchen with beautiful granite, bigger cabinets, and great wood floor sounds much more rewarding. Hanaa, I am so happy for you! =)
Ahhh Hanna you did a beautiful job picking out everything! I love the tile work in the back splash too..so nice! I have the same cabinets and love them! Im so happy you are pleased with your new kitchen and I Know you will enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThe before and after pictures are excellent. I love love love your new kitchen! What a great platform for all the delicious goodies you make!
If it's not to personal can you tell me how much you paid for your granite countertops? We are in the process of redoing them. Everything else in my kitchen is fine...I just want new countertops. How do you like the stainless steel appliances?
WOW!!!! Congratulations Hanaa!!! What a joy it must be for you to have this project finally complete, and before Christmas too!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your backsplash - great design! You have my next refrigerator ;). Hubby doesn't know that yet, but I have my eye on that model.
What a huge transformation!

PS - Now that I look at your photos again, I realize that I lived in a house in MN with that exact original kitchen. Exact!! The kitchen was located at the top of the stairs (split level entry), the counter peninsula overlooked the dining area with a patio door to the deck. My dishwasher was even located in exactly the same spot (the previous homeowners had installed it where there had once been a standard cabinet). All the appliances were placed in exactly the same spot. Even the phone jack was in the same location.
ReplyDeleteThat new kitchen is going to add $$$$ to your home's value!!
:)

Love the new kitchen. you must be so ecstatic with it, plus happy it's all done.
ReplyDeleteCan I have your "before" kitchen? :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks about 10 times bigger than my kitchen.
Kathleen
The kitchen is so beautiful. I love the wood floors and the stainless appliances. The diamond tile backsplash is especially nice.
ReplyDeleteHi again. Thanks for visiting my blog and letting me know that I described your house/kitchen to a T. I bet there are thousands and thousands of that exact kitchen in MN. Our house was built in an Orin Thompson neighborhood. Anyway, what a fantastic renovation!!! Really amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love your new kitchen!!!! I wish my kitchen was like this! Mine is only a 1/4 size of your kitchen or probably less...lol!
ReplyDeleteLove Hanaa's beautiful new kitchen...Wow!!
ReplyDeleteFinishing a reno project is certainly a homeowner’s delight! And I think you did a pretty good job with your kitchen. It looks like a country kitchen in a modern space. I love how the wood played part on the design scheme. Wood adds some much needed rustic charm to any space, making it homier and inviting.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Chase
This is a great redo! Three years have passed already and I hope that you still maintained the fabulous and classic look of this kitchen. Well, it can only happen when you've got high-quality materials for your appliances and furnishings. :)
ReplyDeleteNice blog! and nice design of kitchen, this type of kitchen make homes attractive.
