Indian Food Palooza

I've been wanting to make Naan (Indian bread) for a while now. Recently, we went out to dinner at an Indian restaurant and of course we ordered Naan. This is what really motivated me to make it at home. And so I did. I had already bookmarked a recipe I saw on Marie's blog. But what to do with all that bread? And so the idea was born to build a dinner menu around the Naan. How about some chicken curry, aromatic basmati rice, and Indian Saag Aloo (spinach/potato)? Sounds good to me :o)

Homemade Indian meal

Obviously, lots of people enjoy Indian food. I visited Barb's blog, Creative Culinary, not too long ago, and learned that she was organizing an #IndianFoodPalooza event. Everyone's invited. All you have to do is blog about an Indian dish you've prepared. There are also some prizes to be won, so if you'd like to participate, you have until March 31st. You can find more details about the #IndianFoodPalooza event here.

Whole-Grain Maple Oat Bread

Those of you familiar with King Arthur Flour I'm sure are big fans, like I am. When I received their latest catalog in the mail a little while ago, I happily paged through it, and loved all the recipes that were included. One that I wanted to try right away was their Whole-Grain Maple-Walnut Oat Bread. I suggested it to my Bread BakeTogether (or BBT) buddy, Janis, and she was interested in making it as well. Yay! :o)

Floating Sesame Loaf

A few weeks ago, Janis and I decided to bake the Floating Sesame Loaf for our 2nd Bread BakeTogether. She blogged about this bread a couple weeks ago. I'm a little late blogging about this bread but better late than never, right? Besides, you really need to know about the unique technique used for this bread. The recipe is from the book Ancient Grains for Modern Meals by Maria Speck. The dough requires minimal kneading and is placed in a pot of cold water for its first rise. Yes, you read it right. You place the ball of dough into cold water, and you'll know when it's done when it floats to the top. I have to admit I was a little skeptic at first. I had never heard of this technique before and just couldn't wait to try it myself. I was giddy with excitement when I saw the dough float. I have proof too! Just keep on reading :o)

ABC - Emergency Blender Cupcakes

Boy, I don't think I've ever been this late submitting an ABC post. Instead of boring you with all sorts of details as to why I'm late, I'll just jump right in :o)

Chocolate cupcake with chocolate ganache glaze and sweet pea decoration

This month's ABC recipe are the Emergency Blender Cupcakes. Abby Dodge says that these cupcakes are so quick to make, that you can make them on a moment's notice. I find they're not only quick to make but also super chocolatey and delicious. As a matter of fact, I've baked these cupcakes many times, even before the ABC project started, and yet I still wanted to bake them again for this month's challenge :o)
